Unity of Augusta Music Ministry
Mission Statement:  To cultivate an atmosphere through music that opens
the heart and facilitates freedom of expression, joy, and transformation.
Our Music Team is encouraged and given the opportunity to grow, both
spiritually and musically.  We aspire to an ever-increasing level of
excellence and a good variety of musical expression.

Music Director

Anita G. Houser is pleased to have been the Unity of Augusta Music
Director since December 2008.

Anita has had a deep love of music all her life, taking piano lessons and
singing in church from an early age, and later also performing at school
and in the community.  This was natural since music was all around her at
home and at church, with both her parents singing in the choir, and her
paternal grandparents singing in a traveling gospel group for many years.

Anita later earned a B.A. in Music from Spelman College, Atlanta, GA.
(concentration in Piano Performance, with additional studies in Organ and
Jazz Piano).  She also performed and traveled with both the Spelman
College Glee Club and Jazz Ensemble.

Prior to moving to Augusta in 2008, Anita assisted the Music Director of
Unity of Columbia, David Ezell, and performed in both the church choir and
Southern Light band for 7 years.  This would prove to be a great training
ground for her to become Music Director here in Augusta.

Anita is a currently a vocal student of Richard Fink IV and was one of 10
singers selected for his International Vocal Scholarship.

Anita is also a passionate entrepreneur, including teaching piano and
leading a meditation group.  She lives in Grovetown with her husband,
Michael, sons Michael Jr. and Benjamin, and is caregiver to her mother
Mildred who lives in Augusta.

Sound and A/V Team

Bob Roushar serves as our Sound Technician.  He has the important task
of ensuring that the sound is properly set and maintained throughout to
ensure that the vocal, instrumental, and speaking parts of our service (and
rehearsals) are heard and recorded at their optimal best.

Janet Daniels is our Power Point Screen Operator.

The musicians and vocalists who serve in the music ministry must have
experience both in Unity (at least 6 months) and in playing an instrument
and/or singing either as a soloist or in a band or ensemble.
